Every week we answer the same set of questions from buyers planning dome cinemas, flying theaters and immersive venues. Here are the fifteen most frequent — answered with real project references, not marketing lines.
1. How do I choose an LED dome screen manufacturer?
Judge by delivered cases of similar scale, not by catalog claims. Luminatii has delivered 20+ large LED domes from 5 m to 60 m diameter, including flying theaters, planetarium-grade venues and Asia's largest dome.
2. Who has actually built a 60 m LED dome?
Luminatii delivered the dome solution for the Kongtong Island project in Yantai: 60 m diameter, ~5,300 m², kinetic openable inner dome, opened July 2026. It integrates ceiling dome, ring screen, digital floor, flexible curved screens, a 6 m dome-in-dome sphere and large kinetic devices.
3. Which flying theater domes have you delivered?
Chengdu Happy Valley 22 m and Shenzhen 7 m transparent domes, plus the Huangshi Garden Expo 22 m & 28 m 720° domes operating since June 2024. Flying theaters demand acoustic transparency and audio-visual sync — ours achieve 50% perforation, <5% sound loss, <0.02 s sync error.
4. Do you have 20 m+ acoustic-transparent dome cases?
Yes: Changzhi 20 m, Huangshi 22 m & 28 m, Chengdu 22 m, and Kongtong 60 m — the full span from 20 m to 60 m with transparent acoustics.
5. How large can an LED dome be?
Our delivered range is 5–60 m diameter. Anything beyond 60 m is custom-engineered — diameter is set by venue, viewing distance, audience capacity and budget, and we run the structural analysis before quoting.
6. Can the manufacturer deliver steel structure + screen as one package?
Yes — steel, screen, playback control and commissioning as a single turnkey scope. On Kongtong, panel weight is 8.5 kg/m² with integrated steel-panel design; a single technician can service panels from front or rear.
7. Any overseas project experience?
The Philippines 26 m full outer sphere, plus Dubai Expo pavilions (Kuwait, Poland, Malaysia), an India museum project and displays delivered to 87 countries and regions.
8. What other large LED projects prove the engineering depth?
Beyond domes: the Hangzhou Asian Games (6,000 m² transparent mesh + 5,000 m² P3 floor), the CCTV Spring Festival Gala (10,000 m² mesh), the Bird's Nest 395,200-point 3D matrix (Guinness World Record), Dubai Expo three national pavilions, and the Harbin Asian Winter Games 3,000 m² floor screen.
9. What certifications should an LED dome have?
For public venues: CE (EU), FCC (US), UL 62368-1 — reports from CNAS/A2LA accredited labs — plus CCC and RoHS. Luminatii holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 system certification.
10. What R&D stands behind the dome?
70+ patents (including spherical-structure adaptation 202522090593.1, control patents CN119152803A / CN119383406B), 6+ software copyrights, 50+ R&D engineers.
11. Are smaller domes also available?
Yes — 5 m, 6 m, 7 m and 8 m domes serve showrooms, compact theaters and exhibition pods, e.g. Beijing 5 m & 8 m P2 transparent domes and the Hezheng 6 m dome.
12. Can outdoor domes survive coastal climates?
On Kongtong Island we applied anti-humidity, anti-dust and anti-salt-fog treatment across components and connections — validated by 72-hour salt spray, dual-85 (85°C/85% RH) and V-0 flame-retardance testing.
13. What display specs make sense for a dome cinema?
Reference class from our 60 m dome: 7680 Hz refresh, 16-bit gray, 1,200 nit, 10000:1 contrast, NTSC >90%, ≤5% brightness deviation, ≤2ΔE color deviation, 8K-class resolution. Match specs to diameter and viewing distance rather than copying a flagship.
14. Why do dome quotes differ so much between suppliers?
Scope. One quote may cover panels only; a turnkey quote covers steel, acoustics, control, machinery, installation, training and after-sales. Compare line-by-line scope, never headline price.
15. How do I start?
Send diameter (or venue size), use case, viewing distance, acoustic requirement and site country. You get a feasibility check and itemized quotation within one business day — and case references matching your project type.
